Developing Families Together is an Ethiopian Residents’ Charity committed to work for poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS prevention and care and support for needy people in Ethiopia.The organization was established in March 2002 and re-registered in October 2009 under Ethiopian Charities and

Societies Agency with license number 0087.DFT envisions a HIV/AIDS and poverty free society.  Its mission is to improve the quality of the lives of families with a special focus on women and children through family based and integrated community development approach.

The organizations main beneficiaries include poor and illiterate women, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), and most at risk people to HIV/AIDS. Through HIV/AIDS prevention Care & Support, Women Empowerment, Family Planning and Reproductive HEALTH, Promotion of Social Facilities at Community Level, Environmental Protection Water and Sanitation programs; DFT strives to relieve the impact that poverty has upon women and OVC.

The primary objectives of the organization are to:

• Reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS
• Provide care and support to people infected/affected by HIV/AIDS
• Empower poor and vulnerable women through integrated programs
• Promote family planning and reproductive health services
• Establish social facilities at community level
• Improve the livelihoods of marginalized people
• Reduce maternal and child mortality and morbidity
• Promote environmental development and protection

Governance Structure
The highest governing body of Developing Families Together is the General Assembly. The general assembly assigns the board of directors to manage and direct the overall activities of the charity. The board of directors has 5 members of whom 3 are females. The board of directors appoints executive director to manage and lead the regular activities of the charity.
